I like this image... but I am concerned about the grey Bg... part of me likes the clean BG.. as it makes the subject stand out....part of me wants to burn the sky in... any thoughts or suggestions welcome...

    Peter,
I like the image. Love the details, depth of field and the composition. Burning the sky will help in the image standing out as the sky and the background of the forum merges. So repost of a burnt sky may look better here. However, I prefer your version.

    Cheers,

I also like the comp, details and range of tones on this one. In this particular case I might put a hairline black frame around the image to distinguish it from the forum background. Nicely done.

    Peter,

I would go with a larger vertical crop, placing his butt at a rule of thirds power point (upper right). Might also try selectively doing a curves adjustment on the baboon to get better tonal separation. I would not burn in the sky as a darker gray will make the image look muddy.

Feel a larger crop too, will add strength Peter. Also feel the sky is ok as is, as burning it will potentially ruin the effect, it being quite a large part.

I really like the pose of the baboon here and the B&W rendition. I like Robert's idea for cropping, and I also vote not to burn in the sky.
