    Default Lion Cubs

During my previous trip to the Kruger National park, we were inside a hide observing animals coming down to drink in the front of the hide. To our right,( and this was the only angle I could get ) these two cubs appeared from nowhere. They walked into this opening, sat for a couple on minutes, and then wandered off. We were hoping to see the parents, as these guys are too small and young to be out and about by themselves. The light is harsh, but when one has a sighting like this, you make do the best you can.

Nice shot, you made the best of a tough lighting situation. Would have preferred less depth of field but I know, with this type of shot you don't have time to pose your subject. You might want to try cropping out the foreground and presenting it as more of a panorama.

Thanks Debbie. I wanted to show more of the FG, and space for the one to walk into.

Lighting situation handled well, nice action and having two in the frame is always a plus.

    Stuart,

I would agree with Debbie on the pano. I think you can still preserve the space you wish and make it tighter to accentuate the cubs better.

    Stuart,
I agree that you would click when you find small cubs. Another alternate composition idea is to include the trees with the cubs at the bottom to show the scale and some space in front.

Any chance of using fill flash here?

    Cheers,

    Thank you all so much.

Sabya, they were too far to even consider fill flash. Your comp idea would work. Thanks.
