Blue-footed Booby calling from the Galapagos
One of my better photos of a Blue-footed Booby from one of the pangas (zodiacs) in the Galapagos, boating around Isabela Island.
I haven't posted in the Avian section in a while, but I do have some blue feet photos for Alfred coming up soon!
Canon 1D IIn and 300mm f/4 IS L lens; exposed 1/500 sec. @ f/4, ISO 400.
Love them boobies!!! Nice head but would have liked to see the whole body and not cropped at the tail. However shooting from the pangas can be quite a challenge as they seem to ride in all directions!
Looking forward to seeing more of your Galapagos shots - seems like you had quite a trip!!
lovely shot but, like Debbie said, i would have liked the end of the tail in the shot.
shooting out of zodiacs and any boat is tricky so you have done well here
I guess you wanted the feet to be show in the shot, but IMO I would have left them out of the frame and would have left more room on top and to the right.
Nice atitude still and BG works well.

The color of the feet is amazing, I also like the sharpness, light and calling pose. Too bad you clipped the tail and I might tone down the highlights on the chest a bit more.

Lucky you were on a bird photography boat and not on some city ferry when you perhaps exclaimed: "Hey, check out all the boobies!" :D

As for the tail, I would say it's a cut, not a clip, as the tail goes down several more inches for the bird. I do understand everyone's wanting more of the tail--I probably should have switched to the 70-200!
