    Default Plum-headed Finch - female

The blue Australian sky didn't go down too well with the male Plum-headed Finch I recently posted. The rocks around the waterhole where this female alighted provides a more subdued background.

Canon 40D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4 tc, tripod, kwik camo blind, ISO100, 1/250, f/10, ec -1/3. Cropped a bit and a couple of whitish distractions in background disguised.

    Another fine outback image, Simon.

Great pose and nice earthy tones. Sharpness and exposure look good too.

Light seems pretty strong, but in Australia after 6am it gets harsh anyway. :D You handled lighting exceptionally and I like the earthy BG very much. I would be tempted to crop more from the OOF FG. Thanks for sharing Simon. :)

The little guy must've been hard to spot in that habitat. I like the warm earthy colors too. I agree with Akos, you can crop in a little tighter on the bird and leave out the OOF foreground. Great work!

Very nice pose, species, BG, perch and detail, colors and light work for me very well, I would only suggest to crop from bottom to eliminate the OOF area.
    Congratulaitons!

Excellent low angle and pose Simon, and this is sharp showing good detail. I like the BG, and agree with your other aussie mates to take some off the bottom.

Ditto on bottom crop. Love all the earth tones and how they blend so well with each other. Pin sharp and nice catch light.
