    Peter:

Lovely bird, well exposed, nice HA, sharp.

The light angle is a bit less than ideal, wish it was more over your shoulder. This would even out the exposure and eliminate some of the dense shadows on the perch and far left side of bird.

The head angle does help compensate for the light angle however, so the most important part is well illuminated.

I might crop down from the top a bit.

    Thanks for sharing.

LIghting is not quite ideal. You made the best of the situation from what I can perceive. Nice bird indeed.

I enjoyed this image. The bird has very interesting colors with a pleasing pose. I agree with the above comments on lighting. Would love to see more.

Light issue mentioned - mainly for the shadowed perch (I like lighting on the bird itself). This image would work nicely as an horizontal by cropping top and bottom.

Peter, nice detail in a beautiful species. Great work! I'd leave it vertical but just crop tighter.

I would crop top and bottom to give thisd a more pano format, I like the light, detail, perch and colors.

A different comp Peter, with the LBR looking up the perch. Super pose, and the colours look well exposed and natural. Well captured.

    Peter,

I would normally say the colours look a little "glowing", but after my recent trip to Zimbabwe and Botswana, I am no longer sure what the colours of the LBR are, they seem to vary depending on light strength and direction.
I can now also say the same for purple rollers.

Beautiful bird Peter, and a very well balanced composition.

I wondered if the composition might be improved by cropping but after spending some time experimenting with various crops I think your original works best. Nice work!

thanks for comments and suggestions .. really appreciated. the crop I like as is... but will play around again. Agree about the perch being to dark..and that I should have paid abit more attention to my positioning.

    again .. a big thanks
    peter
