would really like your input on this image... not to certain if it works , might be a bit too much going on.. maybe to many shadows etc ...

basically full frame, D3 600 mm lens...iso 1600 1/640 @f5.6 .. wimberly head and car bracket.. no exp comp.

taken in early morning light.... baboons have just woken, they sleep at night time on cliff ledges so that they wont get the unwanted attention of leopards.

Hi Peter, my biggest problem is that my eye keeps scanning all over because I am unsure which part is the main subject, so perhaps like you say there may be too much going on. I like the idea of the shadows though.

I really like the light and the shadows. My suggestion would have been to zoom in on one section of the image, that way you have a main subject to focus on.

Hi Peter, I was instantly grabbed by the large shadow on the LHS. For me this image is wonderful and is all about the shadows. Here is a quick pano I did of your image; hope you like it as an alternative.
    Cheers, Jay

    Peter,

I would even go as far to crop down to just the left hand shadows and if possible adding a little canvas.

    Peter,
I understand what you are trying. This can result is some superb images. I think it is better to experiment with just the shadows of one individual. If you could have moved in closer and perhaps slapped a converter and isolated the shadow on the left framed by the shadow of the rock, then it would have been nice.

Wonderful light and play on the shadows Peter. Glad to see this and agree with the comments given so far. Wonderful insight and if easy enough, would definitely go back to that place.

There is one thing that certainly works in this Peter, and thats the stunning light. The top left corner works the best for me. Well done for trying something different.

Thanks everybody ..really appreciate the feedback... you confirmed what I was thinking... right idea just unfortunate in timing ... that pose was there for one shot only ... i do have other shots with the rock on left as main subject but the not the baboon pose that i wanted ...
unfortunately Dave a bit far too travel.. but think I might try and make a special trip....

thanks Jay for pano idea .. will considerate it.

ken crop idea and canvas good idea ... will wait till my PS skills improve..
Harshad , Stuart ..light was amazing on those rocks ...look liked the cliff was on fire..

thanks again ... to you all
