My good friend Dave Barnes posted an image of this guy last week. We are both embarressed that we do not know the ID of this duck. It is definately a cross breed, thus not knowing who the two guilty parties are. Notice that one of the webs is missing from the right foot.Taken in Pretoria.

I like the angle, light, eye contact and BG. I wish we could see the underside of the near wing better and might put the bird a tiny bit further to the left in the frame. I don't think he is winning any swimming competitions with his right foot. :)

Nice light, sharpness, and exposure. Good eye contact. Like Axel, I'd like to see more of the near wing. There appears to be some PS work done above the tip of the far wing.

Super image Stu, I really like the pose captured, super bg giving the subject a 3d feel. Also can't help with the ID absolutely no clue, possibly Teal like body and tail...

Stu, this looks similar to the one Margot posted a couple of months back - she was going to contact a bird tog re ID. If taken at AR maybe give her a shout?

No clue on the ID. Nice light, wing position, and head angle. I don't mind not seeing much of the near wing.

    Well done!

Nice pose and BG, nice light and detail, colors are good and comp is good although just a TAD more to the left would be better IMO, too bad one of his feet was injured. Nice image though. Congratulations!

Like the colours in this Stu. Well exposed with good detail. A slightly higher ss would have benefitted you here.

Love the light and comp on this Stu. My first thought was a Hottentot Teal, but the bill color throws me. Stumped!

Stu the more I think about this the more i think it is a teal of sorts, David is most probably right with Hottentot

Really cool pose Stu. Love the BG. I would also place a bit more to the left of the frame. Looks a tad oversharpened. Thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Stu, I sent the link to Mark Anderson of Birdlife South Africa - he has come up with
"It is apparently a female Red-crested Pochard."
Good to know.:) but I still can't find it in the book!!!
