Default Little Wattle Bird: about to leave...

About 1/3 of a second after this shot this Little Wattle Bird was leaving as seen in the next frame of a sequential series here: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=40590 .

    Olympus E-3; 50-200mm @ 130mm, 1/800, F5.0, ISO 200, Saturation 0, Contrast & Sharpness -1, Spot metering, Aperture priority, auto gradation and w/b.

Sharpened and slight saturation enhancement in PS. Cropped to about 60% of original image.

    Thanks for taking a look.

    All C&C welcome.

I like the pose and the head turn. Good sharpness and light.
I find the BG a bit too distracting but you made the best of it.

I like the typical pose and detail about the head. Good job the get the bird free of foliage.

The BG isn't ideal of course but the colors are pleasing to the eye and the bird still pops off thanks to all that amazing detail. Beautiful species. Great work!

I don't mind the lower part of the frame, I just wish the top part wasn't mottled with white sky peeking through the leaves. I also wish the long twig reaching out to the tail wasn't there. If this is part of a setup you can easily prune that out ;-) Very cool looking species - I love the striking plumage, and I like the curved pose it gave you before flying away.

I like the pose, eye contact and sharpness. Adding to the other comments, it could go a bit brighter for my taste, maybe some midtone adjustment?

BG is not ideal, I agree, but pose, detail and species are great IMO. I agree with the comments above.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I've been paying more attention to backgrounds, so much to learn!
