Default Australia: Eclectus Parrots in Flight

Northern Cape York Peninsula - 1D3, 500mm+1.4xTC, hand held, 1/1600, F5.6, ISO 1000, manual exposure

The rare Eclectus Parrots are the only parrot species where the male and female have such drastically different plumage. The Male is mainly green and red and the female is mainly red and purple.

Excellent colour comparision Jim, and Ilike the wings up/wings down pattern! If this were mine I'd be tempted to "cheat" in PS and bring the birds a little closer in the comp (with disclosure of course!)

    Jimmy,

Killer colors and congrats on the rare capture.
Is this much of a crop? The detail is not what I'm used to seeing from your images.

Some birds, great colors, if you only had better angle and, as Daniel said, they were bit closer.
Good to see these beauties here.

Excellent capture Jim I think this would be one of the very few images of a male and female Eclectus parrot flying together.

Here is the original image unmodified except for generic RAW conversion and resize.

    Simon,

I've never seen an image of either male or female in flight.

    Thanks Jimmy.
I thought it might be. Your images are usually sharp and very detailed.
None the less, cool capture of a rare speciman.
