    Good afternoon all:

Another version of the moon flower. A vertical presentation, as suggested. Still with flashlight for fill.

    Nikon D700
    Sigma 180 f/3.5 macro
    ISO 500
    1/15s
    f/25

    Gitzo

Comments appreciated, esp. on compsition! Is it too 'static' (seems like a funny word for a flower)

Okay, that's weird...I thought I put the photo here but it ended up showing up down below on the moved thread!

    Let's try this again...

I added an omni flashlight around the stamen area of your image to help bring the light from the base of the flower up and out into the top area using the Render/Lighting Effects in PS. It's just a thought...

Hi Randy. Love the subtle details you achieved in the whites. Julie's repost is an interesting alternative - not sure which I prefer at this point. Well done.

I like both version, both interesting and each a different mood. If I had to choose, would probably go with Jules more eerie lighting.

Thanks everyone, and esp. Jules for taking the time to do a repost, with a neat idea.

I am still tinkering with my lighting for the shot, and when another flower blooms, will try another variation.

    Cheers

Randy, check out also Nik Color Effex Complete, I think you can download a trial version. They have reflector effects, yes, silver, gold and soft gold, and you can play with the intensity and direction of the light!!!!

    Thanks Fabs.

So many great options. It fun to start with a great subject, and see what you can create.

    Cheers

Good luck, Randy! I think the flashlight idea was brilliant - it will be fun to see where you go with this!
