I think it is a lovely shot Christopher. These guys always seem to blend with their sorroundings & this is no exception. Nice low perspective as well

Nicely captured - I prefer this one to your image of the chick, the environment is less distracting. Nice glint in the eye. You might want to remove the small piece of green on the right side but that's minor IMO.
Enjoy the camera, you'll get many great shots with it!

Pin sharp detail Christopher, and like the low angle. A better head angle towards you would have been good, and I would lighten the eye a bit.

Because of composition, BG worked better in the chick's image IMO. Here I find it to be more distracting and the bird blends to much in to it. Nice light, species, color, exposure and detail though.
    Congratulations.

Love the eye, soft light, low angle and fantastic texture of the rolling stones in the foreground. BG is a bit distracting but is interesting to see how well the plumage merges with the habitat. Cripsis is very important for ground nesting species and with this image it is very obvious that the criptic plumage makes its job very well :-)

Hi Christopher, I took the liberty of upping the saturation and some selective noise reduction on the image as I felt the colours were a bit flat, I hope you don't mind. Good sharp image captured here and a good comp...congrats on the new camera...
