Huge differences in prices - are the cheaper ones reliable?
While browsing the net to check the best prices for a NIKON D3 body I found huge differences. Of course I would be happy to have a brand new body for $3,942 at www.cameraddict.com but so low prices always put me on guard. If I browse further e.g at www.bhphotovideo.com the price is $4,999.95 or at www.amazon.com it is $5,499.99.
What is your experience guys? Should I trust in the low price as it will be kept really low at least utill my card is charged? :D
If a deal for a new camera seems too good to be true, then it probably is a hoax. Camera Addict has a 0.69 out of 10 rating on resellerratings.com which leads me to believe they are the typical bait and switch scam artist/fraudulent camera store. If you place an order with them, they'll call you back saying that the price doesn't include a battery, charger, warranty, etc... If you want those necessary accessories, they'll try and charge you A LOT for them. When you say you don't want to pay for those, they'll tell you the item is on backorder for 6 months. The only thing stores like this will give you for cheap/free is a bad attitude and horrible customer service. More than likely, if you go through with a transaction with this store, they'll charge your credit card and that will be the last you hear of them and you'll never see the camera, just a $4000 credit card bill
The D3 is a hot product right now and those retailers who have one are charging a premium over the going rate of $4999 that B&H quotes. Thats capitilism at its best.
The low price sellers are probably selling grey market items that Nikon USA won't service under any conditions.
