This chap is a resized uncropped image with minimal PP taken on 5D MKII, with 400 mm f/5.6, at 1/1000, f/7.1, ISO 400, Pattern Mettering, AV, 0 step Hand held followed by falling flat on my posterior as he flew overhead.

Big difference with the 5D MKII compared with the 1D MKIII, full frame 21 Mega Pixels but 3.9 FPS compared with 10 FPS on the 1D MKIII, both beaut cameras but the 5D is a bit like a toy after the 1D.

The image is a bit soft in my monitor and that is probably due to the low sizing of a FF 21Mp image to just a 1000pix wide websize image. I like the intense stare of the bird and the exposure is just fantastic. The blue is a bit oversaturated to my taste. I have found that when shooting white birds over my head with blue skies and intense morning light the blue in the sky tend to oversaturate if you are shooting in manual mode, of course

Hi Chris, the hot whites from the head could be recovered and the sky could be desaturated a tad IMO, but the pose, exposure, detail and species are very nice! Congratulations!

Suggestions already made. Worth crisping up and sat and highlights. The pose and eye contact are first class Christopher! Nice one!

Thank you folks I did wonder what to do with a full frame 21 MP shot that could not be cropped and a very sore back, but these things are sent to try us and your help is fantastic, (Anyone know a good chiropractor?:))
