This cub was rescued by its mother as it tried to investigate a herd of zebra which can be fatal to a cub this age. Grabbed on the fly with a Canon 10D, 70-200 f2.8 f 4 @ 1/350.

Really nice evening/morning light here Deborah! The high angle looks like you were in a vehicle. I like the exp and sharpness but would like a bit more emphasis on the cubs eyes/face.
Nice image Deborah, good comp & lighting. Would benefit with some saturation, however.
Where was this taken?
Nice moment captured Deborah! A tickle on the sat and contrast might help it pop.
Deborah,
Great sighting. A lovely moment captured. It would have been fantastic watching this moment. Tweaking the WB and saturation would strengthen it.
Cheers,
Sabyasachi
Debbie,
Nice image. Besides the comments above, which I agree with, I would select the cub's face and lighten it a little, with emphasis on the cub's eyes. Is the haze from dust from the safari vehicle (which I assume you were in)? Color balance is a little blue, and the haze is correctable.

Hi Debbie
Stunning capture. getting them this out in the open is a rarity in itself. great behaviour here!
I did a quick edit (hope you don't mind! :)) - applied reverse S-curve, some selective lightening of the cub's face, some selective saturation (took blue out, boosted yellow and red) and also did USM 20% 20pix to make contrast pop a bit. Might have overdone some aspects as I rushed through it really quickly. also didn't work on the haziness down in the front.
to me this reflects the sweet light a tad better as well.
Your thoughts?
Great capture of this moment/behavior. The little one looks so disciplined. :) I agree regarding a bit more contrast and adjusting the white balance.
Thanks for all your suggestions. This was really caught on the fly so to speak but what a magical moment! I think some increased saturation helps a lot, I had already increased it somewhat however I think Morkel, although better from a technical aspect, exaggerates the scene which was very early morning light and very soft light plus dust kicked up from the sand.
didn't realise it was dust and that early. still a wonderful shot! love the foot kicking the sand in front. this looks to be in the kalahari?
The cub's eyes are still pretty dark. I would lighten the eyes a bit.
Sweet moment. The cub looks soo cute and helpless.
I agree with the comments made bout colors contrast and the haze at the lower part of the image.
This was taken in Mombo, Botswana very early morning. I'd been to Botswana multiple times before this but had alway missed seeing a leopard. This time I was lucky - didn't have much time to compose this image but finally was able to see these cats. Have had even more sightings in recent trips - try to get my own vehicle and driver and leave well before others in the lodge!
To all,
Thanks again for the comments. At the moment I have one good eye, the second is awaiting cataract surgery. The difference in colors between the two eyes is amazing and especially the whites. I hope contrast etc will be more accurately reflected soon, in the meantime I'm saving the comments so I can play with the image when my vision is totally normal!!
I love the scene, and for the colors, a happy medium between the original and the repost.
I had that surgery not long ago, and went to have lunch at the restaurant after surgery. No big deal :)
You'll be OK.

I loved the looks on leopard(s)
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful moment

A very secretive cat, and to capture them holding junior is a great sighting. Botswana is still a place I want to visit.
Typical cat behavior excellently captured. I like the original dust filled frame as it adds to the action.
When I was teaching 6th grade in NYC I always looked at the record cards before meeting the kids. I remember reading the comments on Patrice Escobedo. "Nice girl. Good student." After the first day of school I realized that Patrice was supremely gifted. She went on to turn down a full scholarship to Yale while accepting one to Bryn Mawr.
Many folks above stated that this is a nice image. This is not a nice image. It is a spectacular image of an incredible scene. Perfect head angles. The position of the cubs feet are priceless. Mega cuteness factor. Major conceptual themes. And a great title.
If I saw this in front of me I would have probably dropped my rig from shaking too hard with excitement.
The repost addresses the minor issues mentioned above. Mork, thanks for your reposting efforts; with this one, you way over-did it.

Artie,
Thank you for your kind words - it was one of those few seconds of being in the right place at the right time! This was once of those absolutely magical moments in nature which luckily I managed to catch.
Great behavioural image. I like the third repost. You can get a sense of the dusty environment.
