    Default Another Lily

I caught a glimpse of this lily hidden amidst the rest of the garden as I walked out of the house this afternoon. As it was buried amongst the foliage and wouldn't be noticed by anyone I decided to cut it and bring it inside to photograph.

Nice texture and exposure. Geat, soft colors too. At this angle, it gives a 2-D perspective, probably because everything is sharp and center of the flower is not visible. A different angle showing a view accross the flower would have made for a better composition, IMO. TFS.

I think it's beautiful as is, Richard but wonder if you tried a 90 degree CCW rotation, leaving the flower in the upright position? Either way, I think it works...the texture and colors are fantastic, as is your DOF. Did you use a black card behind the flower to get the BG? It's gorgeous against those pinks!

    Thanks for your comments Jules.

I used a black coat and hung it from a pole lamp behind the subject. :)

You did a fabulous job, Richard! I've been trying to photograph these Lilies and haven't had much success. I will have to try your approach. I love it. I like the black BG. The light is gorgeous. You captured the beautiful curve of the petals, and highlight the warm colored stamen.
