    oops, forgot my critique--

I like this image, even though it doesn't follow some of the main rules I've learned here.

I wish I had zoomed out farther to get the whole body, but I wasn't expecting these two bucks and just started shooting at the zoom I had in order to get the pic. They were gone before I had the presence of mind to zoom out. oops. got excited again. One of my many photo impediments. lol

The sun had just come above the trees, and these two were walking along the river's edge. There was still mist rising from the river making the background look this color. I have another image where the far buck is looking toward the camera. But I like this image better since to me, it shows more intentness on the bucks part as they are out and about their morning business of finding the prime browsing areas.

Issues: no complete body-- I did get 3/4 of the foreground buck's body, so decided to crop instead of clip, pretending it was intentional.
and certainly far from correct head angle.
needs more room on the right (none available in orig though)

so what say you??? keeper? tosser??

Thanks, Harold. I was wondering about the lack of eye contact. I decided I still like the image, that I like the feeling I get of watching them do their own thing, without me interfering with their concentration. Sometimes its nice to see a more natural behavior than me trying to get their attention, "Hey, Over here!! Pose for the camera!!"

(at least that's my story for this image, and I'm sticking to it! lol)

    Cheryl,

I love the mirror image in this, even their racks are the same! Nice sharp foreground buck, slightly open mouth, great colors. I don't have any problem with the lack of eye contact here. I say it is a keeper!

    Real nice Cheryl

Love the twin pose with the oof bg animal I think it works just fine with the head positions, with one looking at you would have hurt some !!! For these type you need identical poses like you have !!

One area to keep in mind are the virtual feel !!! ... they are real close to the edge :) Big Congrats Love how you are working these animals !!!

Hi Cheryl - like the pose - the OOF deer in the BG is a plus in the composition of this shot - just find it a bit tight at the bottom especially in regards to the first deer - maybe som emore room for the virtual feet.
    Nice job :)

Hi Cheryl - I find the repetition of the two bucks very appealing composition-wise.

Maybe if we lose that sense of excitement when we know there is a good image in front, photography wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

    Cheers
    Gail

This is really nice Cheryl, what about cropping some off the bottom to put more emphasis on the faces. Lovely capture and nice and sharp. Head angles are great. Worth a post in wildlife?

Jackie, cropped like that, it reminds me of two heads on a taxidermist's wall.
    gotta be a better way......

Head angle is not a problem in this image, as I agree the two looking the same direction is good. The crop helps, but you've taken a bit too much off. I like the up close feel of this image.

I would leave the BG virtual foot in, but take away some of the greenery. I said some cropping, NOT SURGERY!:)

Your doing super with the deer Cheryl, head angle looks fine as is. I think maybe a little less crop as Jackie suggested
