This was taken when dark clouds packed around the Gannet colony while some a rays of sun still tried to get through. This one came in to land in the middle of the colony but came so close I clipped some parts of the wing I brought it back from death using quick masks. Normally I don't stuff like this too much but because this is the only one with a pose like this with the (IMO) dramatic light and BG colours I saved it.
Hope you like it,

I'm glad you saved this one. The eye is sharp and clearly visible, tail feathers spread out, perfect EXP with lots of detail in the whites. I'd take a bit off the left and give more room to the bottom... give him some space to "land" into. Well done!
Hi Krijn!
I too am glad that you saved this one! You did a great job with the PP - I would never have known...
The spread tail takes it over the top for me and I am happy with the tight crop.
Best,
Nicki
Krijn, a lovely incoming shot, full on with great detail and exposure. super well done, especially on the wingtip construction. I love it as is - pops very nicely against the dark BG.
I like the pose. I especially find the wing and tail position pleasing with good details. I also think you did a good job with the PhotoShop. In my opinion a little more room a the bottom might help (per Austin's comment). Well done and thanks for sharing!
This is one of my favourite flight poses with the bird at full stretch coming into land. The bird is beautifully illuminated against the dark back ground. Excellent work on restoring the wings tips, which I am not usually a big fan of but this has been very well done.
A powerful image, the eye contact, the tail spread and details make this an amazing image. Like the way it’s pictured against the dark back ground. IMO more room around the frame would add value to the image.
