Default Puffin in flight on Farnes Islands UK

    Hi all,

Here is another from my recent trip to the Farne Islands in the UK.

I would have preferred a slight head turn towards the camera but as many will know this species tends to travel in straight lines, remaining focussed on their destination. No time to turn for the camera.

    C&C welcome.

    Canon 1DMK3, 300mm, f6.3, 1/2000, +1EV, ISO400.

    Cheers

Lovely capture and all the little fish definitely a bonus. Wing position is great and I don't mind the head angle. I would sharpen the head just a tad.

    Hi Austin,
Lovely flight shot - I know how difficult these are - they move like little bullets!! Well done!

I love the pose and natural moment here, light was nice and soft, comp could be improved with a crop from left. Nice colors and good sharpness. I like the HA.
    Congratulations!

I like the wing pose, color and sharpness fo this image. A catch light would really help :)

ditto sharpening the head slightly but a great sideshot with sweet wing position, beak full of eels a bonus. have you considered a more pano-crop?

I also love the wing position and prey. I have to agree with you that a slightly better head angle would have made this even better. Thanks for sharing.

Besides the above critique, I'd like the eye to be lighter and there's a slight sharpening halo in the lower part of the bird.

Hi Austin, I think a pano would be nice with this, and I'm partial to upward wings, but this is very nice regardless of that.

Too much emphasis on head angle, as you cannot control this, especially on flight shots. Nice soft lighting to compliment the Puffin.

Excellent well exposed and crisp capture, and I like the multiple eye contact.

The colour temperature seems to be a bit on the cold side of the spectrum. The pose and action is just fantastic and I love the bunch of fishes in the beak. Very good job!

I like the flying posture in this, with good show of the down stroke. Exposure on the blacks look good, and the beak full of sandeels a bonus. Well captured Austin.

An excellent flight image. The little fishes in the beak… must be a great sight to watch them.
