Wonderful capture, with a yawn like that, he better find something to do soon :)
I think it needs some CCW rotation and go a bit darker, thanks for sharing this beauty.
Like this Chris! Great timing! Wish I had one like this. Feels it needs a tiny bit of ccw rotation as the lines in the bg look slanted . Feel this is so good it's worth the work, so I did a bit of work.
1. tiny crop and ccw rotation.
2. darkened the bg via selection tool and smoothed lines.
3. inverted selection and via new layer, some selective sharpening on the hippo, with smart sharpen at 110%, 1.0, then reduced opacity till satisfied,(to 42%), by my eyesight. :)
Took me a while: (12 mins between distractions here), but I now see Fabs reply... :)

Thanks Fabs and David .......... your repost looks great ,thanks for the effort.
The original RAW file is on my Laptop which is in for a faulty power source repair.
To my mind what makes this different is the lolling tongue, I do not think I have noticed this before in the thousands of Hippo Yawns. I must look at the few I have.
Chris,
I like the image. Lovely eye contact. The depth of field is good. I like the water streams falling from its mouth. A slight anticlockwise rotation. Look forward to more.
