    Hi Everyone,
This shot taken with EF 500mm and Canon 20D at 1/340 sec at F/5.6. This Short-Eared Owl is a frequent resident of the Nanaimo River Estuary. Not the tamest bird but at times will let you get quite close. Nice to see such great photos and I am happy to meet you all.

Ive got to get up there and try for this guy In this case I dont really find the backlighting situation flattering. If possible I would suggest trying to negotiate a better shooting angle.

What a lovely looking owl. I think fill light would of helped you with the dark shadows, but at the same time it gives a nice feeling to the image. The composition could be better. Perhaps more room in front of the owl??

    Hi Guys,
Nice to meet you. How about this shot. Same bird, different light, different background and location.

    Cheers,

    Steve
