Gordon, I really really like your image! I like the neck curve, the water drops, the sharpness, and the background! I might go even a little bit closer cropping off just a little off the top, and some off the bottom. really like this image!

    hope you post more!

I like all the water droplets, agree with tighter crop, especialy off the bottom. Not an unusual subject but lovely just the same.

    Hi Gordon,

I think you did very well at getting the eye contact, and you nailed the focus too! Your crop emphasizes the long neck, but for my tastes, I'd like a little more space on the right. The wide aperture separates the bird from the BG too.

My first impression is that the image is a little dark, and looking at the histogram for your image, I think you have room to push the values to the right. I see detail in the shadows that can be more visible; the Shadow/Highlight tool in PS might be an option to try. On the other hand, it definitely has a rainy day feel to it, so others may prefer it just like it is!

    Onwards and upwards,

    Hi Gordon,

Some good advice given from others. Focus is good. Love the rain/water droplets. A little work on the eye, maybe? to give a bit more detail. The subject is unusual in Australia!

Hi Gordon - exposure looks OK to me seeing detail in the blacks on my screen- Good Ha and eye contact.
Composition and crop are good for my tastes.
    Keep them coming :)

I like the idea of a little different crop giving more space up front Not sure how I would go about it with the neck angle Love the sharpness and overall look !!!
