Good amount of details in this image. I like the pose and looks. Wish the grass line would not have passed behind his neck. Did you click from a vehicle or were you on foot?

    Cheers,

thanks Sabyasachi, i was on foot and would have like a lower angle but the top of the trees line started to pass through his antlers which i didnt like at all. The grass line through his neck is diffused enough not to bother me.

Did well with your stalking Colin. Strange, but one of my last sessions was stalking deer with the 1D111 in Oct 2007, and was so miffed with the quality and softness, that I did the same. Nice alert pose, and guess short of lying on the ground, that tree line is too strong.

Agree with the comments about the tree line and also think it may need some CCW rotation?
Detail on fur looks good :)

this is nice and sharp with great colour and contrast. I wonder if it's manufacturing flaws that creep in that cause some people to be utterly dissatisfied with their 'high-end' gear and others to be totally stoked by the results they get?

    lovely picture!

Definitely agree with Kobus - the horns are a killer!! For me, they make the image.

I did a quick and dirty "level check" using the top edge of my notepad; the deer's back is level. I do so because the rise in the grass line I find distracting. Since the back is level nothing to do in that regard.

The stag is so healthy; I hope he didn't meet a hunter during killing season (you can tell I am not into hunting!).

    Quite nice, Colin.
    Cheers, Jay

Nicely detailed and a healthy looking subject. The grass/tree horizon line doesn't bother me as I think it provides some depth and a hint of the safety of distant trees. Like the detail in the eyes as well.

Great eye contact, and love the sharp detail on the head. The grass line doesnt bother me at all. Well captured.
