Beautiful portrait Lance. the blending of the foreground and background make this a killer, great pose too. only thing I feel is you could sharpen the front part of the beak.

I remember this series, I like the eye contact and colors but don't remember what was in the foreground.

The eye and the lines on the beak are simply over the top. Very special; thanks Lance.

Magical. I love the gradual transitioning from the bottom to the top. I really, really want to see one of these birds some day. Your images always make me wish I were there.

Lance I love all the series of these birds you've got, all of them and this one is no exception. Great pose, FG/BG are stunning, lovely light, species, colors, ddetail, exposure and pose, I wonder if less room at the top and more at the bottom would improve comp though.
    Congratulations!

Another species, I would like to capture. Brilliant detail and colours on the head, and love how the layers of the BG blends in. Congrats on a fine image.

Another one of your beautiful Gannets, captured through sometime. I like that technique and it really shines here :)

Surreal and very appealing Lance! Congrats. Like Ramon's crop suggestion, but my guess is that any one you show will rock like this.

Axel - foreground was nesting material very close to me - bird was further away and I was shooting at a downward angle. This is was part of a whole series - many of the same type comp with diffrent foreground/background colours as the light chnaged.
Love these guys and the DSE here are very gracious with their access to the colony.

Thanks for the kind words :)

Awesome shot mate. :) I would reduce the catchlight a touch. Thanks for sharing.

This is really a super image, the blended Background/foreground really appeals and gives the image a nice arty feal to it. The comp for me really works well. If I had to be picky I suppose F8 would have got the tip of the beak as sharp as the rest of your image. Congrats on a fine image...

The catchlight is a bit prominent to my taste but... man, this is just awesome. Love the out of focus bicolored BG/FG and the bird emerging from that nice pastel tones. Superb job and very creative Lance

It as a dream-like affect, very enjoyable image.
I might cut a little bit from the top.
