    Default Sanderling Head On

From this last winter at Morro Bay. Not nearly as many birds there now with hundreds of tourists on the beach.

The prey item is a Sand Crab.

Tough capture Aidan. Exposure and sharpness look good. I'd probably add a bit of canvas on the left. I'd like this photo even more with a tad more eye contact. :)

This is lovely. I feel like it needs just a bit of CCW rotation but otherwise, very nice indeed.

Thanks for the comments Doug, and Carole.

Carole, I'm pretty sure it does not need rotation, that is just the angle at which the bird was flying.

Very tough capture which is done well. I love the feeling of motion created by the wing blur.

The head itself is level, no rotation needed. I actually like the angled body behind the head. I kinda figured this was a large crop, but the detail held up well.

Congrats on a fine catch Aidan. Held up really well for a large crop. Cool! Not often I get the pleasure of seeing this type of image. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty neat. I like the incoming pose, wing blur, BG and the food item adds to it. I don't mind the lacking eye contact in this one.

Great timing and nice pose for a frontal flight shot. Nice exposure too. I would've gone with higher ISO to get sharper wings but it is just a matter of taste.
    Congratulations!

One challenging image to make, I think anything that comes directly at you is hard to get a sharp image.

Not an easy shot to produce, with a good angle of flight. Well exposed and the fish (catch) completes the image. You maybe could have left a bit more space with the crop to get the head a bit sharper.

Lovely moment frozen, like the head on pose and the prey add well to the frame.

Difficult shot to execute done well. Might have increased the ISO as suggested for more ss, but cool head shot and prey adds interest.

Great headon capture Aidan, and sharp where it counts. His catch a bonus.
