    Default Great Saphirewing

I thought it about time to post another hummingbird...

This is definitely one of my favourite species from Ecuador. The Great Saphirewing is massive for a hummingbird (one of the largest). Their wings are especially large and wide. When they fly they beat their wings much slower than other smaller species and wind up looking more like butterflies than hummingbirds. I just love them :)

Terrific composition Glenn. Nice pose too. How many flashes? I might get rid of the sheen on some of the leaves.

One day my chance will come to make pictures of these beautiful birds. Until then I'll just enjoy stunning pictures like this one. If I had to crit anything it might be to tone down the bright parts on the flower and leaves.

Comp works well Glenn, and the IQ in this is simply brilliant. The colours are so striking, and overall, nice and sharp. I agree with toning down the few highlights - but they dont spoil the image one bit. Congrats.

Nice image Glenn. Was an artificial bg used? As the bird rather dark I would prefer a bit lighter bg :)
Otherwise nice bird, nice image, lovely composition.
