Not the best shot of the day but it appeals to me. I always lack confidence with the exposure of black/white birds. This is with the 40D, 500 f4 + 1.4 tc, AV 5.6 iso 200. Taken at Nickerson Beach. Again, I would like to thank Axel and Roman for all of their help in answering my questions. It is an amazing place! Looks a bit brighter in the post than on my computer.

I like the intimate mood and angle and would tone down the whites some more. I would also selectively sharpen the chick. I'm glad you had a good time there.

wow! terrific pose! exposure and sharpening (especially the chick's eye) already mentioned. I like the space in the frame that you gave the pair.

    Hi Carole,
Glad to see you found it! Tough place to isolate and deal with the environs......excellent advice given above and would just add....as I love the crop tool.....taking some of the darker area off the top will help focus attention more on the pair. Just an FYI.....most have moved back a bit today with fewer within easy reach.

Carole, Great advice already given. I know the lighting there is tough and the vegetation seems to be in the way of every shot. You did well to get the interaction-agree w/ a slice off the top. Very sweet image!!

Hi Carol - love the moment - AL has nailed the black and white bird question - these days I don't even bother if the light is not soft.
Sharpen the chick a little - looking forward to seeing more :)
