    Default Loon (on nest)

This Loon family took up residence on a lake about a mile from my home this spring and was really close to the shoreline. I was able to lay on my belly on a tarp on the muddy shore to get this image late in the day. I am happy to say that the two eggs both succesfully hatched. :) I was worried about predation being so close to the shoreline.

Mike, Really nice to see a nest with a Loon! Love the reflection and the colors are gorgeous. Great HA also. Glad to hear the eggs hatched successfully!

Interesting crop, good angle and eye contact. I would remove the two bright spots in the upper left and find the big leaf on the right side a bit distracting. Maybe a bit more contrast?

I like the head turn Mike, and what a lovely red eye. Your low angle has worked out well, and the colours in the BG are simply amazing. Great capture.

I understand the concept. First I thought the bird is too high in the frame but the reflection tells it however some more room would be pleasant :) Colors are very nice.
The focus doesn't seem to be on the head. Bird's back and the nesting material looks sharp to me.

Lovely frame and the eye contact of the bird along with the angle works well. great BG too..Agree with GS on the focus and the details on the Bird head looks washed maybe because of NI. nevertheless a great frame..

Thanks for the feedback, agree about the upper two light area's. :)

Szimi, I adjust where the exact focal point is and on this image I had it right on the eye @ F/8. :)

I would only suggest to desaturate the BG a bit, the rest is very nice, scene, pose, detail, light, species. Congratulations!

    Very well made.
I wouldn't touch the leaf, but I would have remove the two white spots ULC.
