    Default Savannah Sparrow

The sparrows feathers are wet but some preening was done for me before I took this shot.
Slight crop from bottom, width is 100%.

    Canon 40D ~ 500 f4L IS + 1.4x ~ f7.1 ~ 1/640sec. ~ ISO200 ~ EC+2/3

Jim, super pose, good detail and colour, and overall nice and sharp. Great complimentary BG too. I would maybe try and lighten the eye a bit.

great shot, background and everything are fantastic but i think the bird is a little too central in the image. Add a little to the left and give the bird somewhere to look into.

I know the rule of thirds is there to be broken, but sometimes it does work.

I like the angle, ruffled plumage, sharpness (I might sharpen a bit less, though) and complementing BG. If it were mine I would remove the little part of the perch in the lower right.

Very nicely done. I like the colours. I would prefer a tad more room on left and also would clone out the bit of perch lrc. Well done. Dave

Magnificent capture: lovely BG that fits well the subject. A little more headturn toward you would have been nice. Great !

Excellent detail, I too would remove the perch in the bottom right corner.

For me, bird photography is all about sharpness in the small details and this image has plenty. Great shot!

Great closeness. a beautiful model and BG.
I agree with Axel about the sharpening, you were very close and the original file is probably very sharp...
A bit more room to the left would work fine for me.
The flash is a bit strong I think.

Thanks everyone. Gal, I did not use flash, the shot was taken in somewhat harsh morning light. I agree that the bird is centered but as stated it's full frame side to side so I can try to crop some off the right side for a better comp which will also get rid of the LRC perch and clone in some BG on the left. I'm still getting used to the sharpness of the canon 500f4 (had it about a month now) and find myself having to cut back on my standard sharpening techniques.
