    Hi Everyone,
Here is a shot of the male tanager bringing food to the nest.

    Stats:
    Canon 50D, 500mm + 1.4X, F/8 at 1/50 sec, ISO 800. Filtering done in Topaz Denoise 3.

    Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Good looking bird, and the meal is a nice bonus. Good sharpness for the indicated SS, but as posted the image could stand another round of USM to make the fine detail more apparent. With the diffused light seemingly coming from behind your subject fill-flash would have done wonders here. Perch is a little large, but the bark has a nice look/texture to it.

Nice composition, you handled the saturation levels nicely. Your subject is a tad soft and if you have photoshop I prefer smart sharpen over USM.

Totally agree with whats been said. A little more sharpening and you got a winner. Congrats.

Very nice bird, agree with above comments,
I think with diffused front light the "blacks" slide in ACR is excellent to
    handle that.

The angle is very good. Good control of the colors.Agree with above comments about sharpening. Since the perch is quite large, what about decreasing the highlights a little, so it is less prominent.:)

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your comments. As seems to be the usual, the original is somewhat sharper than the posted image. Here is the posted image once again with an added round of USM. Hope this looks a bit better.

Repost is better. I like the species, BG, colors, detail and moment, pose is nice too. The perch IMO is too large for this guy and the crop resulted in a very centered bird.
    Congratulations.

    Hi Ramon,
Thanks for commenting on my photo. Here is another version with the bird turned in the other direction. Somewhat better composition as regards the position of the bird. I will go back to the nest today and see if I can get some better composition with the bird on more asthetically pleasing perches.

    Thanks,

    Steve
