Default Temporary Guest - Barred Owl

My wife and I are part of Raptor Recovery Nebraska. We get to look after this little one for a bit. It just had pins taken out of wings. I am told this one will probably become an educational bird due to the extent of injuries. This is first time outside since arrival to our house.

Good on you and your wife Randy - and thanks for the message on my other post. :)

Lucky for this owl. We have so many bad wing injuries (many birds, not just owls) that the euthanasia rate is huge. But the ones that make it make the experience, heartache and blood and tears all worthwhile. Please keep us posted about this little fellow's progress. Would LOVE to know. Thanks a lot Randy.

Randy, I just went to the Raptor Trust in NJ and there are alot of injured birds there. So sad to see them caged, hopefully a full life ahead for the little one!!

Randy, that is just precious! I'm so glad there are people like you and your wife to look after the ones who can't take care of themselves. Very nice images, thanks for sharing.

Hey Jackie... Sorry took so long to respond. This one fell out of nest and broke right wing. Pins were put in to fix and they were just removed. He / she will probably become an educational bird. My wife Martha has been attending another Raptor Recovery member's educational sessions in hopes of doing her own. Kids love this stuff and great fun to watch reactions. Rewarding all the way around !
