I came across this gator today at Ding Darling at Bailey's Track, and if I hadn't been paying attention to some noises in the brush.... I might of been lunch. This gator came rushing up a bank (fairly steep) and came out onto the path I was on about 20 feet from me. After I changed clothes.... I took some shots. I think this was more of a yawn than displaying some aggression. He just wanted to sun. Probably just ate. He is about 6-7 feet. Used my Sony A100 with a Sigma 50-500mm data=f/10, -0.3 ev, ISO 400, at 500mm (what! you expected 50mm?) C & C's welcomed and thanks for looking.

John, great close up. Given the size, maybe a female guarding a nest? Not much contrast and a little tight framing for my taste. But it's great to see the inside of its mouth up close and personal!

    John,
I am glad that you didn't try a stunt with the lens at 50mm. I would try to reduce the colour temperature a bit.
