Just back from a wonderful trip to outback Queensland with Rob Drummond and Jeff Davies. This Brown Falcon was facing into a strong wind in the early morning near Winton, Queensland, and I was able to get quite close in my car.
Canon 40D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4 tc, bean-bag on car window, ISO 400, 1/1000, f/11, full frame.
Nice sharp well-exposed portrait, Simon, pleasing BG and HA. Agree that a little more canvas on the left would help, as would a little uptweak on the catchlight.
Simon, Beautiful bird and picture. Love the blueish tint on the beak and around the eyes. Excellent exposure. I too would like to see a little more room on the left. Congrats.
Brian
I like the light, sharpness, pose and BG. Another vote for either cropping a bit off the right to get the bird out of the center and might lighten the eye. I look forward to more images from your trip.
I love the soft light and detail in this photo. The slight cloud in the sky also adds some more interest than just a straight blue. sky Good clean photo which as previously mentioned may be improved by some more space to the left so that the bird is less central in the frame.
Beautiful detail, lovely subject and very nice BG. Would also take some of the right. I am wondering what this would look like with a little more perch....?? Looking forward to more from your trip!
This is an outstanding image by its sharpness, details, colors and tones not talking about the species. Most probably the best image I have ever seen of this species in this quality. Thanks for sharing.
