At the moment of takeoff and landing I think the GBH is pretty graceful. But they are so big I marvel that they get airborne at all. I did a lot of cropping and some minor tweaking on this one. How does the image look?

Good timing! I would suggest cropping the top a bit to help viewers focus on the bird more.

Hi wendelll - like the pose - the head/eye area is quite soft (maybe due to the cropping) with not a lot of separation from the background in the head area either. The sharpness of the head/eye would be my major issue as even if you intended for it to be a blur a sharp head/eye still makes the image.

Some of the whites on the head are starting to push the envelope just a little - easy fix via a multiply layer.
A lower shooting angle would have transformed this shot into something entirely different.

    Keep them coming :)

    Hi Wendell

If yo get into something like this think bg right away A lower shooting angle would have made a great difference Don't have to get wet ... just bend down as much as you can !!! Also hammer down the motor to have some to choose from Would love seeing one with full up wing position !!!

    Hi Wendell,
I agree with the techs. and the fine advise given...you do have sharp details and good color rendition...would like to see a tad lower capture angle...looking forward to your next one...
