Default Puffin on Farne Island UK

    Hi all,

I am one of the many that have been onto the Farne Islands in the UK for the annual review of the bird colonies on the islands. It is always a great experience. The light and wind direction are different every time so each trip poses new opportunities and challenges.

Here is one from the day. Sadly this one was not carrying sand eels back to the young.

    Canon 1DMk3, 500mm, f6.3, 1/1250, +1EV, ISO 320.

    C&C Welcome.

    Austin

Great stop action and exposure. Comp is wonderful as well. I might opt for just a bit less space on the left , but thats just my taste.

Every time I see this astonishing bird, something inside of me shouts,
"go north, you must go north..."
    Great landing pose,

I like the composition, colours look good and no distracting elements. A bird I would love to be able to photograph!

Like the flight pose and wing blur. For my taste, I'd like a tad more room.

Great shot here. I would add some space at the bottom. Also looks just a bit dark on my screen....
Minor probs. Super shot with good detail well done

I like the pose and sense of motion. I would lighten the eye and probably would have gone to ISO 400.

I like it! I like that you have the head and body sharp while capturing the wing blur to show motion. I like the composition as presented. Thanks for sharing.

Wing blur adds a sense of motion; nice exposure; and maybe next one with sand eels!!

Very nice bird and killer BG.
Agree about lighten the eye a little.

Lovely color and nice details, love the open wings pose. The blur wings do not bother me. I agree about lighten the eye.

I find the colours and detail on these guys amazing. Great landing posture, and pops from the BG nicely.
