Default CS3, raw and Canon D5 Mark II

A friend recently purchased a D5 Mark II and can't get RAW images to work with CS3 and this camera. Has anyone been able to make it work yet? Would Adobe Lightroom be a useful alternative?

It may be that you need to update your CS3 so it will recognize the 5DM2 raw files. Bridge-Help-Updates, or go to Adobe.com and download the update.

If this is not the problem, I'll need some more details as to what you mean by "make it work".

Camera Raw in CS3 doesn't support files from the 5D Mk2. But you can use Adobe's free DNG converter. Convert the CR2 files to DNG format and those will open in the CS3 raw converter, with no loss of data.

    Glen,
A 5D2 is what forced me to upgrade to CS4. I do like the CS4 converter, but the CS3 raw converter was very good too. Having said that, I haven't found anything in CS4 that I couldn't live without.

Roger, so you're saying that CS3 does not support raw images from 5D2. Correct?

Thanks to everyone for the info. The DNG converter worked fine.
