This is gonna be my last one for a while. As my gf has six weeks of summer holiday we're gonna make most of that his year...so we'll be heading to Spain on monday and see if we can manage 4 weeks @ +100F temperatures in our dome-tent :D.

    Have a nice summer!

Very nice contrast between bird and habitat. Also very nice to see the full stretched out look of the bird. Have a good summer with your gf! Dave

Lovely shot! The wingposition is excellent for a backlit shot like this! Too bad about the tail looking a bit scruffy especially because the light comming through it is so nice. Maybe you wouldn't agree with me here (because it is not really dynamic??????) but I really like the gliding pose of this bird. And the rocks in the BG are cool as well. If anyting I would maybe boost the midtone contrast just a bit more. Have a great time in Spain my friend and hope you bring back some of the shots you were talking about.

See you when you get back.

    Cheers,

    Krijn

I really love this image! The back/rim light on this beauty is awesome!! The subtle cliff BG puts it over the top for me!

    Jasper:

My favorite part of the image is that you were able to have enough dynamic range to show the transillumination of the wings and still show good detail on face and breast that are in the shadow. Compliments to you and the D3.

Have a great summer vacation. I must be in the wrong business! I don't think my boss would take too kindly to a request for 6 weeks of summer vacation.

    Cheers

    Randy

The backlight with the cliffs as a BG makes this one a real gem.
    I like it a lot.

Gotta love the back light. Comp is sweet as well. The contrast makes it a super shot.

Lovely stuff Jasper! Backlighting here worked so well with the dark BG! Like the inclusion of the environment, although a slight tad noisy. Well done!

A lovely back-lit bird with good details throughout. I also like that you were able to include the habitat/environment without distracting from the bird. Well done!

Fantastic capture - the backlight works extremely well, the exposure on the whites are perfect.
