    Default Ovenbird and snack.

From the cottage last week. The snack, although barely visible in reduced web size, is a Daddy Long-legs spider. For some reason the WB on the camera was set at cloudy...something I rarely do. Colours were dreadfully "yellow" so some "cooling" was done in RAW conversion to bring those back down to more natural levels.

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @285mm, 1/60s., f/6.3, ISO 800, no EC, natural light, handheld, audio + blind used, ~85 full-frame.

    Daniel:

Glad to see you got some pictures from your trip. It rained for five days straight for me, so not much luck.

Nicely captured bird with good exposure, sharp, effective DOF,prey a plus.

The only truly small thing to consider would be burning in the foilage to the right of the bird a bit, perhaps 10%, just to keep our eyes on the bird.

Thanks for sharing, hope to see more!

    Randy

Very pleasing image and the spider is a killer.
Did you prepare the perch or is it fully natural?
    Good work adjusting the temperature.
    I didn't notice anything.

Interesting looking bird. Good for you to get hh shot at 1/60, even with IS. My only suggestion would be to remove the one little catch light on leftside. Nicely done. Dave

    Fantastic shot Dan!
Great exposure and details. The bird really pops against the dark BG, and the spider really gives it something extra.
You've got a very steady hand to get this sharp at 1/60s

Lovel pose, detail, light, ambient, BG, colors, comp and that "hair" in the bill is a nice plus. Congratulations!

I really like the sharpness of the bird and the daddy long-legs. Interesting to see him on evergreen as I usually see them in ground litter.....and then that's a struggle just to see them. Well done.
