From the Salton Sea, this wren was singing its heart out. I waited and waited, but it would not come out from the yucca so sorry for the busy background. Can we just call it habitat? ;) With the angle of the light, there was no catch-light and I wasn't using a flash. I tried putting in a little highlight, but it looked contrived so I left the eye as it was.

    50D, EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS + 1.4x @ 280mm
Aperture priority, f/5.6@1/640, evaluative metering EC 0 ISO 200 AWB
    One-shot AF, HH, no flash

HI Kerry - looks like you has some harsh light to deal with here - done fairly well - looks a little bright on my screen.
Bird is a little too centered perhaps = might have tried backing back a bit and trying to get more habitat into the composition and seeing if you could have worked it that way a little.
Like the sharp details - Persoanlly would have liked a little less head turn - but that could just be me.

    Keep em coming

Sure its habitat and nothing wrong with it ..... we always hope for that perfect clear bg but I would have captured this one !!!

Main thing is doing the best possible in camera, here it was possible to move right and have the head with a better bg and not merging he dark leaf !! Glad your going after this ones !!!

Thanks guys. I've had this one sitting in the queue for a while and was a little hesitant about posting it. Appreciate the feedback. I know where this one lives, so I'll be going back there to get a better shot! ;)
