I chose this image over others I made yesterday because this one has a better head angle than another I liked, which shows a risen foot. Have I cropped it tight enough, and should I have done something to blur the shiny area in the bottom right?

    Thanks for looking . . .

    Hi Wendell,

Have to set up an Avocet Fan Club! Great little guy and a nice shot - comp, HA and pose.
You might want to remove some of the bright pieces on the water in the background as they distract more IMHO. To my eye the foreground ripples etc distract less. A little NR might help the background too.

I'm still amazed that you got so close to these guys!

I hope to get back to my site on Saturday and try again with some different tactics!

    Regards,

    Gerald

Hi Wendell , lovely capture , cute little guy :) my only nitpicks and they are matters of taste only . I would crop just a little of the bottom to get rid of a bit of what looks like floatting material and maybe do something with the top left corner theres a color variation from the back of the bird upwards. Apart from that sweet capture :)

I have never seen one of these birds, adult or juvy, so I don't know about their coloring. I would try darkening the blacks to add some contrast to the image. the eye looks great! very cute image, with lots of details!

    Hi Wendell,
I like the low capture angle, your head angle and sharp eye contact are on the money...I like the color rendition on your bird...my recommendation would be to crop 1/4 from the top to place more attention on your subject, and finally, a little pass of noise reduction in the background...well done...proud of you...keep them coming...:)

Hi Wendell, I like this one a lot. The techs have been well covered but I just wanted to say that your images are really getting good. My best advice would be to think more about the entire image and how the elements relate to one another. You show a very nice connection to your subject here. Nice job sir!

Hi Wendell - Nice - your images are improving - gus has nailed the critique, like the HA and the eye contact.
    Keep them coming :)

Hi Wendell I think you made the best possible form your position, going flat on the water was the only other option and would have looked totally different !!! Clean water is the key to those shots !!!
