    David,

    I like it. You did a good job with the exposure and composition. The feather detail is great. It is a bit more abstract than a normal bird image, but there is definitely a place for that. It doesn't work well as an illustration of a particular species on its own, but it think that placed alongside other images of the species it provides a unique perspective on detail/behavior. I've taken shots like this, and am always thinking about how to use them. I think they really fit better as part of a body of work than as a standalone.

    It's certainly an excellent wing study, but for me the absence of a head does detract from the overall image. I feel it would be better if just a bit more head was shown (sort of the avian equivalent of Artie Morris's current avatar!). The brown branches at upper left would be better removed, and perhaps the whole background darkened.

    Agree that we all want to see the head, at least the top part of it. Whites are great and so is the detail in the feathers.
