    Default Gotta Love 1/2500!

It seems like lately my flight photography has been done in less than ideal light. How nice to get some sun and a few cooperative Skimmers the other day!

Sharp, with lots of details in the blacks. Some of the whites on the face look borderline to me: you might try toning them down a little.

I'm guessing this was in SoCal. Where was it taken? Bolsa Chica? Huntington beach?

    Thanks

Well done using HH and 1/2500. I like the purposefull position to the wings and face. I like the way the eye is visible within the dark facial feathers. The whites do look just a tad bright on my monitor.

Some of the whites are bright but the blacks look beautiful. I really enjoy being able to see his dark eye distinctly within the black head which is seldom pulled off. Excellent job of showing those not familiar with skimmers their unique mandible.

Doug, You got alot of detail in your blacks-these guys aren't as easy as they look. I agree w/ Mike the defined eye is very nice.

I was celebrating a shutter speed of 1/2500 Juan. The ISO was only 500. :)

Excellent capture Doug with superb eye contact. Most of the time they look like they do not have eyes but this certainly shows them off. Excellent exposure and detail and flight pose.

    Hey Doug,
Really nice on the eye......you have to have a great angle to get it that nice.....so nailed it there. 1/2500 sec is one of my favorites too......nothing wrong with this one!

Not easy to get details in the blacks without blowing out the whites but this looks great.

Ideal light? you are a humble fellow! I only dream of when I will be able to take a picture like this...

Love the exposure here, wing details and eye contact, he/she knows what you are doing...

Perfect sharpness and nice and level with the bird. Maybe tone down the whites in the neck a wee bit.

There are many good constructive comments Doug. All I want to add is that this is INSANE!

Doug, you nailed with regards to sharpness. Just love it when the ss produces. Excellent exposure on the blacks, great eye, and the skimmer pops from the BG so well. Congrats.
