Taken at Nickerson on Tuesday morning. Had a bunch of opportunities with this as the terns seemed pretty wound up anytime anyone even shifted positions slightly.....never mind when beach joggers/walkers approached!
I normally don't like squarish crops.....but by now most of you know my love of the crop tool:D.
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 300-800mm at 466mm for 1/3200 sec. at f8 and ISO 800. All mounted on tripod with wimberly head.
PS I took your earlier recommendations and was a bit more carefull with the PP'ing.
Killer image Roman! Superb light, angle and the open beak just kills me. Very good job. On the processing side, the image looks great but I think that you have lost some deatils in the feathers.
Its a beautiful image Roman. Nice action with beak open and also like the fact the two wings and head do not merge anywhere. It depends upon personal choice of whether to go for vertical or Horizontal.
In this image, I like this crop.
Love the dropped wings and the fact they cleared the head. THe fanned tail and open bill are the icing on the cake. Square is fine for me in this instance. (I am not a fan generally). THanks for posting. :)
Lovely image, techs and composition already discussed.
To my eye the bird is slightly over sharpened. There are jaggies creeping in. They are most noticeable on the thin white line on the 4th and 5th primaries in from the leading edge on the lower wing. Not too noticeable on my laptop, but jump out on the big monitor. Its a small point, but such a strong image, it can be even better.
Great image Roman! Exposure, sharpness, details, open beak, catchlight, background...it's all there...I'm not a squarish crop guy either and would try other options.
Super posture, love the fanned tail, and well done for separating the head from the wing. Good to see the open beak, and you have brought out the eye nicely. Well captured.
