    Default crop?

What do you think about crop and post in this shot?

tech is 50d + 400 f/8 1/1200sec ISO 400. I have uploaded the original RAW file here if you are interested to download and play with it :)

You could prob crop some off the bottom, but what seems more important to me is that the eye is not clear, bright, and sharp. On my monitor, it looks like some whites are over exposed. I do like the eye contact, position, and it even has its prey.

Thanks for comments, I pulled up the eye in PS with curves and dodge brush, maybe I can do a little bit more, checkout the histogram for whites.

    Hi Arash,

Took a look at the RAW - I think that this is a pretty aggressive crop and I am surprised that you have been able to recover as much as you have. However, the detail isn't really there any more and you have introduced quite a bit of noise in lightening the darker tones on the bird.

It is beautiful bird and that it has its prey makes it a special shot - but one that you really needed to be taking with an 800mm rather than 400mm! And, as I am sure you realize a better angle with the light and a higher position would have given you a better image to work from.

Personally, I would try making something more of the image with a much wider crop.

    Regards,

    Gerald

Image came out real surprisingly well with the crop !! As presented would work on the eye area and lighten some. Top part of the head can try bringing detail but might be difficult !! Great action !!!
