I like the lights and trails.....debating the blue at the base.....just seems out of tone?....with the rest. You should try this even later......lights turn out really cool. I'm not driving down through the traffic to try it though! Like the angled comp very much too! Nicely done.

I do agree with Roman...that blue at bottom is a bit puzzling

Denise: You have created a wonderful image. I think it is great as it is, but I hope you don't mind, but I created an alternate version. The composition is outstanding and I couldn't resist using it as a base image. CS4,duplicate layer, convert to black and white, find edges, merge layers(I think I used exclusion, but I can't remember) then Topaz Clean 2. I hope you don't mind! regards~Bill

Bill, I tried to re-create your tweaks. I had to use difference instead of exclusion and I bumped up the saturation and adj. the S/H. I really like the effect and will try this on a few of my other images-Thanks!:D

Denise: I'm glad you were able to recreate what I did! Yeah, it was difference, now I remember, Anyway, a few additional points. When you go to Image/adjustments/Black and White, if you click on one, you will then be able to use your scroll wheel to see what each variation does. (same thing with merging modes, you can use the scroll wheel). In Black and White you want to have as great a contrast as possible. This makes the Find Edges filter work better when you apply it. I use this technique (dup layer, Black and White/find edges/merge/ quite often, but usually with Overlay or Softlight. Softlight merges create what I consider a much better watercolor effect than most other so called watercolor filters. Usually you may also need to tweak the exposure (darken) of the base image before merging. regards~Bill
One more thing. As is usually the case, the image you start with needs to have sharp edges in the first place. What I do is create an Action, and then it is easy to see if an image will work with one click.

Bill, Good tip with the action and I actually found out that contrast thing on my first failed attempt. I never used the scroll wheel but will be giving it a try very soon! I really like the B&W tip -it really makes a difference for find edges and I use that alot. Once again thankyou for your help and I hope I was able to re-create the image to your liking.Thankyou.
