Liked how the smaller one seemed to be telling his big brother about a playground bully. 40D, 400D + 1.4xTC, f6.3, 1/500s, ISO 400, +1/3 EC, handheld, cropped a bit all around.

This is very good. Like the comp and sharpness. Not sure about that catchlight in the eye though.

I like the attentive expression and the well done exposure. I also like the smooth BG. Only small - really small - suggestion is to darken the dirt on the left on top of the mound.

I like the poses, Steve - and they go well with your story line. :) Also nice light, sharpness, and background. The only thing that grabs my attention (in a negative way) is the glassy looking eye of the larger prairie dog. IMO, a little eye-doctor work would make the image even stronger. Well done.

Lovely image Steve. Great BG and colors overall. Excellent subject placement. :)

Thanks for the looks, comments, and suggestions. I did actually tone down the eye a bit prior to posting. Will have to readdress that. There were lots of large thunderclouds starting to form out there on the prairie that day.

    Steve,

Great comp with room in the front, just the right amount of support on the bottom and OOF BG. The looks on there face make the image - showing them attentive and interacting with the environment.
