My favourate bird taken from my favourate hide. Would have liked the head angled a tad more towards me, but he would not oblidge.:o

Beautiful bird Gerry! You mentioned the head angle, but great exposure, comp and BG. I don't know the bird, but assume that the little orange tipped twig(?) is not a part of it. I find it and the portion of the perch that twists around behind the bird are a bit distracting.

    Cheers!

Hi Gerrie. I like the detail, BG, eye contact and comp.
I dont find the perch distracting but would remove the twig.

Super comp, although slightly tight at the bottom. I feel the pose shows up that brilliant red eye nicely. Good detail on him, and like the complimentary colour in the BG. My favourate hide too, but you have never invited him every time I came to visit.

I would run some more NR (if not already done so) on the BG, just looks a tiny bit noisy. I like the intense look in the bird and would also prefer a head turn more in your direction. Well captured. Let's see some more! :)

Ditto Distracting perch. The comp is a bit tight for me and the image looks a bit dull. Maybe up the greys a bit and thenadd some contrast and sat.

Gerrie hop you dont mind but here is my try on this great one of you.
    Did some cloning(obvious)
    Some BG NR
Up the grey level and add contrast and sat.
Then i also lighten the eye a bit
Extended canvas for more space all round
    Hope you like

Nice image Gerrie. Kobus's repost is an improvment in my opinion.

I think the pose exposed the eye nicely. Great shot Gerrie, and I also think Kobus' work improved on it.

Nice portrait Gerrie, sharp with a lovely, smooth background. I would prefer a tad more light and Kobus did a good job of the cloning. I would also suggest a slight lightening of the eye.

Great PP work Kobus. Will also give it a go. I at least have something to refer to now. Thanks a lot!

The BG sets this bird off nicely and the re-work is well done. I only wish for a better head angle.
