This 77-year old gentleman I know, as our horse is stabled at his property, restores old cars for a hobby. This is a 1929 (or 27 - cannot remember) Chev pick-up that he has now fully rebuilt and will plan on touring around Australia for six months. What a car! By the way, Corvettes are my fave cars. Too good!
I desaturated and applied a digital tiffen sepia filter for that "old car' feel.
Akos, Very cool image of an Old Truck! I think I might de-saturate the red channel just a bit. I do like the choice of sepia and the tiffen filters are great!! I might of liked a bit more room up front . Nice the way the tire is on an angle and the hood is up on one side.
I agree with Denise's comments - desat the reds & leave a little more room up front (for the car to "drive into"). I'd also lighten the sky area and try to bring a little more room into the tones - burn and dodge a bit to give it even more depth. Lovely image, though - and I really like that you went for a "rusty" version of sepia!
Akos, Great image, and I agree with the others on toning down the reds a bit. I also understand about dealing with clutter in the nearby area. My only other distraction is the bright white spots on the wheel. Not quite sure what they are, but for me they are just a bit distracting and draws my eye to them. Just my old eyes gettin glazy? As another possibility for this type of shot, check out Julies duotone tutorial at the top of this forum.
I'm not sure if the sepia gives an "old car" feel or an "old photo of a car" feel but I like it. He did an excellent job restoring the truck and you did likewise in capturing it. Nicely done.
