    Default Shadles Backyard

You'd think, with his expertise in these birds. I shot this from Shadle's
boat while James, Rusty and Artie were up to their waist in water. After
6 days of straight shooting, I was actually wearing down a little:eek:

Doug a love the exposure, colours and the pose on this bird. I would have liked to have seen some more room on the right hand side though. The head might need a bit more selective sharpening but its difficult to tell on my work monitor.

Great pose, colors and details. I agree regarding rotation and more space at the right.

Hi .. like the pose, light and colors but i think if the bird had some more room in front of it's head it would be perfect ! the BG is a little noisy !

Nice one, Doug! I'll echo everyone's statements up to this point. I really like the pose, and you caught your subject in nice light. A little rotation, a little added canvas, run some noise reduction, and bingo!

I wish the spoonbill's where I live were this color. Ours are lots lighter. Need to saturate my eyes!

Very nice, pose and techs on the bird. The water looks really off to me though and I wonder if it is a matter of color profiles.

When I downloaded the image to play with removing the color cast, it opens in CS3 a whole lot different than it looks on the web. Give me a minute and I'll post browser vs CS3 view, but first, I think the color cast out of the water makes the bird POP even more:

Ok, now the left is the image in the browser, and the right is the image when opened in CS3.

Which is closer to how you see the image as "correct?"

I wonder which version others see in their browsers since most are not color managed.

On my monitor they look very similar in my non-color managed browser and PS, not identical but close enough.

Wow, I wonder if my color management is off or if it is my browser. Which one is closest to what you see of the side by side. Those can't be very similar I'd think since they are part of one image.

Your PS screenshot looks quite oversaturated. The one on the left and the one in the original post look similar on my monitor. Have you checked the color settings in PS? This might be an interesting thread for the digital workflow forum so we don't hijack this thread. :)

    Hi Doug!

Gorgeous pose and perfect head angle. Color looks great on my calibrated monitor. Once you have fixed the nits mentioned above, this should be included in your library exhibit for sure! Looking forward to shooting spoonies with you and James Shadle in early May!

This is really a great shot. Fixing the small nits that were mentioned will make it even better.

    I'm sooooo confused :)

If this makes sense...what I see in Photoshop is closer to Jim's (minus a little less
saturation), but I see what everyone sees here in the forum.

Maybe I'm converting to sRGB wrong somehow?

    Anyhoo.

I tried to make some of the changes, so you might have to
    refresh your screen.

I added a little more canvas on the right, rotated the water a tad
and added a wee little more sharpening.

    Doug
