Nice shot. I like the composition and the light reflections in the eye. Wonderful head angle.

This is one of my favorite birds. I saw many on my last trip to Spain. Unfortunately it is not common in Europe (only about 1.000 pairs - one of the most endangered raptors here).

There is an upcoming book on the species in case you are interested. I hope it will be published this year:

Nice image indeed. Wish a bit more focus on the head and eye. Unfortunately the focus is on the shoulder.
Anyway a nice image with great lights.

Lovely image of the Juv BE, Nice eye contact and crop.. further to GS's remark, I suggest to try and do some selective sharpness on the face.

    Harshad:

Good looking bird, well composed. I do agree with Gyorgy that the focus does appear sharper in the plane of the shoulder and tip of bill, than eye. There is enough detail that an additional round of USM on head might do it.

I might also consider toning down the BG a bit, esp. behind his head.

    Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Randy about toning down the BG just a bit and with Szimi about the critical focus point is not on the eye but on the shoulder.
We have a good amount of this beautifull eagle in Spain but the species is declining through its range. Not easy to photograph in Spain without the use of a bait.

Spain has a little over 700 pairs, by far the biggest population in Europa. More than 300 in Adalucia.
It is stable in some areas areas and declining in others.
Main problems are illegal persecution and electrocution. There was a power line close to Toledo where about 60 birds died during the last 10-12 years. Now the power lines has finally been secured.

A good place to watch them is the Monfragüe National Park. With a little luck you can see them there and maybe even get a flight shot, but often the eagles are far away.

Super pose, and a great close up to study the detail of the eye and beak. I would like to see this with a bit of selective sharpening. The BG doesnt bug me .

Great close up! as the others have mentioned, I too wish the head was a bit sharper. This is a recently flegded juvenile, how did you get so close?

    Best regards.

Very nice portrait of this great raptor.
Light seems to be harsh but not so bad. I might crop a bit from top. Congrats.
