Awesome capture Jim! Looks like someone wrung his neck and threw him out!:D That upper wing is bothering me though, a bit close to the edge.

Super hand held shot with the 500 and 1D3. Moment well captured.
Must agree with Dan on the wing. You could add a bit of canvas.
    Love the spray.

Awesome image Jim. Lovely turn in flight which is always so funny to see.
Nice droplets improves it further. Expo control is cool.

    Hi jim

I took a similar photo of a common tern last year shaking itself down and when I showed it to a lot of people they couldn't work it out at first as it looked as if the bird was flying upside down. Looks like you have captured this in some nice low sunlight which has lit the tern and the spray up beautifully. Very good exposure and detail and I really like the action you have captured. As with previous comments I think some additional space above the top wing would benefit the composition.

    Cheers

what a pose captured! and those droplets! pin sharp as well. wing close to the edge has been noted. nothing you can do about it when the action happens so fast and try to track it in the viewfinder...:)

First time ever seeing something like this, thank you so much for sharing. Love the droplets near the bill, agree about the room at the top wing.

Jim this is spectacular! Light is awesome, sharpness too. Only wish for more space at the top.
